Some of these mineral layers may be formed by direct deposition of mineral elements in the bottoms of water bodies, whether lakes or seas, such as some iron ores. Others may form from these mineral layers as a result of the precipitation factor by evaporation from shallow water bodies, as is the case for gypsum ores and potash salts.
