Simultaneous Multi-Frequency (SMF) Technology

The new Nokta Makro metal detector will feature the latest Simultaneous Mult-Frequency Technology aka SMF Technology. This technology will allow detectorists to use a range of frequencies without being limited to the option of choosing one frequency at a time, although SMF technology allows this option as well.

This frequency is also high enough for gold prospecting which leads us to suspect that this new machine will consist of a gold search mode allowing for gold prospecting capabilities.

Carbon Fiber Shaft

Nokta Makro also announced the shaft that will be included in the SMF metal detector package will be a carbon fiber shaft. These types of shafts are known to be lightweight, sturdy, and reliable.

Rechargeable Battery, Flashlight, and Vibration Mode

The new SMF machine will come equipped with a rechargeable battery, meaning detectorists can keep extra batteries on hand for backup and change the battery themselves, without requiring technicians to replace the battery for them.

Same Fully Waterproofing Housing

Nokta Makro has confirmed that the new machine will have the same waterproof housing as the Nokta Makro Simplex+. People have suspected that because of this, the new machine may be an upgrade of the current Simplex+, however, Nokta Makro has also confirmed that this is not true. The new machine will be a completely different machine than the Simplex+ with a completely different coil.

Competitive Price Point

This new simultaneous multi-frequency metal detector comes at a competitive price point and in two different packages:

1. The Nokta Makro Legend Metal Detector with Headphones: This package comes with the Nokta Makro Legend Metal Detector, a standard 11″ coil, and a pair of Bluetooth wireless headphones.
2. The Nokta Makro Legend Pro-Pack Metal Detector: This package comes with the Nokta Makro Legend Metal Detector, the standard 11″ coil, an additional 6″ coil, the Bluetooth wireless headphones, and a replaceable and waterproof battery with a charger.

Does Nokta Makro Legend perform well on the beach?

Yes! This machine is silent and stable, especially on the beach. When it comes to beach performance, The Legend will outperform the Nokta Makro Simplex. However, the depth of the Simplex should not be overlooked as this is still a great option for searching deep targets.

The Legend, thanks to its simultaneous multi-frequency technology, can be used for many metal detection applications, including but not limited to:

Search Modes

The Legend comes with 4 search modes out of the box that can be used for specific purpose based on terrain or target size or other factors:

1 – Park Mode

Park mode is an ideal detection mode for searching for small metal objects lost in public parks, such as a small ring, a coin, an earring … etc.

2 – Field Mode

Field mode is a suitable detection mode for searching for metal targets buried underground in agricultural fields, such as natural gold, coins or small antiquities.

3 – Beach Mode

It is an ideal special detection mode for use near the shores of seas and rivers, and it can be used to detect lost metal objects such as gold jewelry (ring – earring – bracelet) or small metal pieces lost by beachgoers

4 – Gold Field Mode

This detection mode is designed to detect natural gold (gold nuggets) in search fields that are of different soils types.

Advanced Discrimination Settings

The Legend metal detector incorporate advanced metal discrimination settings that not available in any other metal detector that enable to fine tune the detection settings for optimal results.

Following discrimination settings allow the prospector to find specific metal target type or ignore what he doesn’t want like trash: All Metal, Ferrous Off, Ground Effect Off, Custom (Notch Discrimination)

60 Target IDs & Harmonic Tones

Accurate Target IDs and harmonic tones with adjustable frequencies allow you to identify targets easily. Adjustable Retractable Shaft , The Legend compact design includes an adjustable shaft, the user can adjust its length between 63 and 132 cm, with retractable mechanism to fold it to compact size during transport or carrying it without use.

Waterproof Design

The device features a waterproof design with IP68 rating, it can be used underwater without affecting its operation or performance as it can be fully submersible up to 3 meters (10ft) and protected from total dust ingress.

Nokta Makro Legend Vs Equinox 800

The Legend and Equinox both come with an 11 inch DD search coil. The Legend also offers a small 6 inch DD coil with the purchase of their pro-pack option. The Equinox only comes with the 11 inch unless you can find it bundled together their 6 inch coil.

Both the Legend and Equinox 800 are 100% waterproof and submersible down to 10 feet. Waterproof headphones will need to be purchased separately for the Equinox.

In Nokta Makro the Legend has 4 search modes that are using simultaneous multi-frequency , Legend’s search modes are:

• Park
• Field
• Beach (wet/dry sand)
• Gold Field

The Legend also has 4 customizable search modes that can be saved.

The Equinox also comes with 4 search modes and by default are using Multi-IQ or simultaneous multi-frequency. The Equinox search modes are:

• Park (I and II)
• Field (I and II)
• Beach (I and II)
• Gold (I and II)

Essentially, the Equinox gives you 8 customizable search profiles. Plus, one additional custom search profile that can be saved and referenced by pushing one button.

Legend Frequencies

The Legend appears to have similar frequency options as the Equinox 800 . However, the Legend does not include 5 kHz as an option but the Equinox does include 5 kHz. From the video Nokta Makro claims that simultaneous multi-frequency is used with search modes Park, Field, and Beach (wet/dry). It was not clear in the video if the Gold mode uses multi-frequency or not.

In addition to multi-frequency, the Legend can also operate in a single frequency as well. Legend’s single frequencies are listed below:

• 4 kHz
• 10 kHz
• 15 kHz
• 20 kHz
• 40 kHz

Equinox Frequencies

The Equinox uses both simultaneous multi-frequency or Multi-IQ and single frequencies as well. By default the Equinox search profiles are set to use multi-frequency but the operator can cycle the the single frequency options with a push of a button. There are different algorithms built into the Equinox that determine the multi-frequency options for each of the search profiles.

The Equinox uses the same single frequencies but also includes 5 kHz. The 4 kHz frequency was added to both the Equinox 600 and 800 as a software update. The single frequencies included with the Equinox 800 are listed below:

• 4 kHz
• 5 kHz
• 10 kHz
• 15 kHz
• 20 kHz
• 40 kHz

If you are an Equinox owner you know how well the multi-frequency or Multi-IQ has set the Equinox apart from just about every VLF on the market. It will be interesting to see if the Legend will be able to meet or beat the performance of the Equinox.

Target ID Segments

Each of these 2 metal detectors use different target id segments. The Legend uses 0 to 60.  The Equinox uses -9 to 40.
